The study makes use of conditions set out in a previous study (See Determination of penetration and fixation curves of leather using humic derivatives). Additionally, subsequent complementary tests were carried out using other retans that are commonly used in the tanning industry in order to compare and improve on the physical properties assessed here. Tannage Résumé : In this study, diethyl bis(2-hydroxyethyl) aminomethyl phosphonate was modified by hexamethylene diisocyanate, and then was utilized to partly replace the isocyanates to prepare hyperbranched polyurethanes (HPU-DPAs). The hyperbranched polyurethanes were then employed in the retanning process of wet blue. The shrinkage temperature, average thickness as well as mechanical properties of leather before and after retanning were acquired. The flammability of retanned leather was measured by cone calorimeter test. The morphologies of wet blue and leather after retanning by HPU-DAP were obtained using a scanning electron microscope. Results showed that the average thickness, tensile strength and elongation at break of leather were all improved after retanning. Retanning by HPU-DAPs can effectively increase flame retardancy of final leather.
Note de contenu : - IMPREGNATION AVEC DIFFERENTS PRODUITS : Sels d'aluminium - Résine urée-formaldéhyde - Silicones - Alcoylsuccinate

Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Surface impregnation is the first stage in finishing certain types of leather. Its purpose is to reduce looseness of the grain, provide improved finish uniformity and lasting properties of the leather and to improve final selection. However, impregnation tends to firm the leather and this needs to be taken into account when preparing the retannage for softer leathers.
Impregnation can be applied to both vegetable and chrome tanned full grain and corrected grain leathers. For a leather to be impregnated, a polymer dispersion needs to be applied so that it will penetrate through the grain surface to the lower layers. Upon drying, this fills and supports the fibre structure between them.Note de contenu : - Impregnation resins

Tannage au chromeIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : An appropriate tear strength is one of the main properties that concern customers and it is also a significant source of claims. The authors make a review of the production process, focusing on each step that can either damage the natural strength of collagen fibers or improve them, and therefore, the leather. The aim of this work, divided in Part 1 and 2, is to transfer field tannery experiences collected over 40 years of activity in different tanneries, to colleagues that are looking for world class leather production.
