Technique de la productionIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The high cost of polymer precursors, usage of organicsolvents and/or energy consumption during carbonization post-processes has limited the use of carbon fiber systems for every day applications. Here, nonwoven nanofiber mats are developed utilizing the Forcespinning technology and subsequently exposed to acid vapor induced dehydration and low temperature carbonization (T C 800 °C) processes to produce multifunctional fine carbon fibers. This method allows for the production of highly porous nonwoven carbon cloths or yarns with micro- and mesoporosity. The fiber diameter can be tuned in the range of hundreds of nanometers to several microns. Thermophysical and microstructural characterization indicate graphitic formation due to carbonization that occurs during the chemical and heat treatment. The developed system shows high electrical conductivity, high surface area, thermal stability, hydrophobicity, and oleophilic behavior.

Température -- ContrôleIndex. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : Research 4.0 is an adaptation of Industry 4.0 standards, aiming to enable the development of innovative products (e.g. high-performance fibers) by achieving the following goals :
Delivering a high degree of flexibility in the spinning plants under the conditions of a high adaptability of the processes to new findings from the research work.
- Equipment supplier and researchers work in a close cooperation during the decision-making and development process. The development of the new products is accompanied by high quality services.
- Intelligent monitoring and decision-making processes are designed to enable researchers to control their experiments in real time and to easily make optimization adjustments.
Research work in the field of high-performance fibers is characterized by a high degree of adaptation needs. Research facilities must be able to be adapted alter initial experiments and the knowledge gained thereby. The necessary adjustments are made under the conditions of a highly complex manufacturing process, which is determined by many influencing parameters. This results in the following requirements for the flexibility of the electronics control of the research facilities :
- Integration : Easy integration of new production modules
- Scalability : Easy replacement of production modules with modified specifications
- Flexibility : Easy modification of production steps' positioning within the production line
- High performance : Intelligent production modules synchronized by a master process control level
- Analytics : Continuous monitoring and evaluation of process parameters

Thermoplastiques -- Moulage par injectionTags : 'Procédé FIT hybrid' Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In conventional manufacturing processes, lightweight hybrid composite structures are formed in multistage and thus costly process chains and joined in additional process steps such as gluing or welding. In terms of process engineering, the biggest savings in mass production can be achieved by reducing cycle time to a minimum. Jacob has developed and tested new processes (FIT-Hybrid and SpriForm) which combines moulding, forming and joining processes in a single process step. The new process also achieves high-level functional integration, made possible thanks to the high degree of design flexibility of thermoplastic based, endless-fibre reinforced composites, as well as the utilisation of the excellent processing possibilities that these materials offer. The key benefit of the invention is, that in addition to the lightweight potential of the used materials, this process offers an extraordinary potential of lightweight due to the combination with structural design.
