Titre : In search of the Holy Grail Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Stephen Falder, Auteur Année de publication : 2005 Article en page(s) : p. 30-31 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Antimicrobiens Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Byotrol is a substance which disrupts existing biofilms and prevents re-establishment or formation of new biofilms on which bacteria grow.
It is great truism, that whatever the industry or technology, scientists are always striving for the holy grail. Be it a car that does 0-60 in 4 seconds and 200 miles the gallon with zero emissions or a super fast computer that consumes no power, does not slow down regardless of the number of applications you run and is available for less than £500, there is always a desire to go quicker, faster, cleaner cheaper.
The biocide industry is no exception and recent superbug scares in hospitals and a number of food hygiene incidents have drawn biocides into sharp relief.
Aside from obvious applications such as basic hygiene, biocides turn up in a vast array of products and market sectors from paint to wallpaper paste and plastics to food processing plants. Not surprisingly, the global biocide market is said to be worth in excess of £5bn a year at concentrate level with biocides taking many differing chemical forms. Despite the fact that biocides turn up in a vast array of market sectors they are no different from any other industry sector in that there is a perfect world solution which represents a major challenge or opportunity, depending of your viewpoint.Note de contenu : - Key characteristics
