Titre : Effect of accelerated ageing on the physical and chemical properties of chrome-free leather Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : R. Li, Auteur ; Y. Z. Wang, Auteur ; Z. H. Shan, Auteur ; M. Yang, Auteur ; W. Li, Auteur ; H. L. Zhu, Auteur Année de publication : 2016 Article en page(s) : p. 19-24 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Tannage Résumé : With the expansion of market demand for chrome-free leathers, much attention has been paid to the safety in using them. Four kinds of chrome-free upper leathers made by Vegetable-Glutaraldehyde (Veg-GA), Glutaraldehyde-Vegetable (GA-Veg), Vegetable-Aluminium (Veg-AI) and a synthetic agent were subjected to accelerated ageing by hot air, UV light and Xe lamp respectively for 96 hours. The physical qualities and chemical indicators of these leathers before and after ageing, such as the shrinkage temperature (Ts), tensile strength, tear strength, colour difference, water vapour permeability, formaldehyde, phenol and aniline were tested. It was shown that some common rules apply to the four kinds of chrome-free upper leather samples after ageing, Xe-lamp ageing has made the tear strength, formaldehyde and phenol levels reduce the most and the aniline level increased the most. UV-light ageing has caused the maximum colour difference change whist hot-air ageing has caused the maximum Ts decrease. All of the ageing methods have enhanced the water vapour permeability. Summarising, leather samples made differently have different physical quality indicators after the same ageing treatment. As the basis of the leather quality change, it is found that the leather fibre turns into a bundle, curled, loose and distorted no matter what kind of ageing treatment is used. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and its blends with starch and methylenediphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) were extruded in a twin-screw extruder and compress-molded in a dog-bone shaped tensile bars to form test specimens. The effects of starch types (rice, corn, wheat, and potato) on mechanical properties of the PLA/starch/MDI composites were evaluated. Starch type and granule size had no significant effects on mechanical properties of the composite. But crystallinity of the composite decreased as the starch granule size increased. Potato starch was used to study effects of granule size (19 to 63 µm) on mechanical properties of the PLA/starch composites. Both tensile strength and elongation of the PLA/starch/MDI (55/45/0.5) composites reduced slightly as starch granule size increased from 19 to 63 µm. While crystallinity of the composites was significantly decreased as granule size increased. Modulus of the composites remained the same regardless starch types and granule size. Surfactants -- SynthèseTags : 'Surfactants gemini' Imidazole 'Propriétés interfaciales' Synthèse Nanomatériaux Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Two novel imidazoline gemini surfactants quaternary ammonium salts of di(2-undecyl (heptadecyl)-1-formyl aminoethyl imidazoline) hexanediamine (SUAEIHDI/SHAEIHDI) were synthesized in this article, and their interfacial properties were studied. It was found that SUAEIHDI had a higher CMC value than SHAEIHDI in distillated water at constant temperature (12 ± 2) °C, indicating that it was easier for SHAEIHDI to form micelles in water. The symmetrical molecular structure of SUAEIHDI/SHAEIHDI is composed of lipophilic group and hydrophilic group comprising many active elements i.e. O, N and two imidazoline rings. The novel imidazoline gemini surfactants can be viewed as block-like copolymers, whose surface-modifying effects on nanomaterials are promising. Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : This paper investigated and compared the thermal and flexural properties and water absorption of natural caulis spatholobi residue fibers reinforced PPC/CSRF composites. Polypropylene carbonate (PPC) was reinforced by caulis spatholobi residue fibers (CSRF) which had been pretreated by continuous steam explosion. The effect of fiber content (10 to 60 wt%) on the properties and water absorption of PPC/CSRF biodegradable composites was investigated. The thermal properties of PPC/CSRF composites indicated that the addition of CSRF could improve the thermal stability of the composites. The flexural strength and modulus of the composites were found to be improved as the content of fiber increased. From the SEM micrographs, it was found that a small amount of fibers were pulled out on fractured surfaces of the composites, showing good network structure between the fiber and PPC matrix. The water absorption amount of the composites increased with increasing the fiber content. This paper demonstrates that the incorporation of low-cost and biodegradable caulis spatholobi residue fiber into PPC provides a practical way to produce completely biodegradable and cost-competitive composites with good mechanical properties.
