Titre : Compact methods for the wet end Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alois Püntener, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 96-103 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Neutralization, retanning, dyeing and fatliquoring when applied in compact formulations require a special selection of products and/or product combinations that are compatible. Decisive, are not only economical advantages such as time reduction, higher production capacity utilization but also ecological benefits like saving of water. In addition to these advantages, the performance and the final use of leather should not to be overlooked. The theoretical background for achieving satisfactory results and practical hints are discussed in this presentation. Special focus is given to upgrading of lower quality leathers. Tannage Résumé : The catchphrase "clean technology" and the publicity slogans "biological leather" and "eco labels" have spread to tanning and the leather processing industry, and have some-times led to confusion amongst tanners and consumers. Not being protected in some countries, the word "bio" (biological) is encountered very frenquently. "Bio" is used as a sales-promoting prefix for the most widely varying consumer products. Food, cleaning products and garments in particular are frequently labelled "bio". Highly committed to this philisophy, leather-processing organization are considering what is to be understood by "biological leather". The following properties have already been mentioned: metal-free leather dyed with water-soluble organic or natural dyes, and if finished at all, then only with aqueous processes.
Unfortunately, the prefix "bio" is not reputed everywhere for giving accurate information about product. Therefore, proper consideration should be more point in considering whether a standard eco label would provide more information for the consumerNote de contenu : - Clean technology

Page Année de publication : 1993 Article en page(s) : p. 1-2 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Over the years questions have been raised by tanners concerning dyes which are based on benzidine and benzidine derivatives and also whether such dyes are present in various dye mixtures. It has now becom accepted that benzidine itself has a positive cancer response in humans.
While dyes based on benzidine are themselves not so critical, these dyes can undergo degradation by light or chemicals to form benzidine. Additionally in the production stage it is possible to have small quantities of benzidine present. Consequently it is very clear why these dyes based on benzidine have a high toxicity potential and are forbidden in many countries. More recent is the move to question the use of dyes containing certain benzidine derivatives, i.e. ortho-tolidine and ortho-dianisidine, since these intermediates test positive in some standard laboratory mutagenicity tests. The dyes containing the sulphonated benzidine moiety are not classified as mutagenic and cntinue to be in many companies' dye ranges. The sulphonation gives these more hydrophilic derivatives a quite different metabolic breakdown.
A relatively simple analytical test has been developed for benzidine and non-sulphonated diaminobiphenyl bases (e.g. ortho-tolidine, ortho-dianisidine, ortho-dichloro benzidine etc.) using thin layer chromatography. the method has been optimised to separate benzidine from the other diaminobiphenyl bases.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Fig6DA1_L0WU6LNkMdNFPgItk1rmAaN8/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8556

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Pure aniline leather and lightly finished semi-aniline leather are finding increasing favour with consumers. Good general use properties and fashionable colours are in demand. Therefore the selection of dyes and the dyeing process itself are becoming more and more important. Dyes with excellent compatibility together with the possibility of computerized colour recipe prediction or even colour matching are making the dyeing process more economical. The relationship between dye constitution and dyeing properties has been studied and the results are presented below. The possibility of synthesizing specific dyes for optimum compatibility has been tested and verified in practice. Cuirs et peauxIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Public interest is increasingly focused on leather goods and the potential risks to our health and the environment arising from them. Although these hazards are not substantiated by any etablished findings, the media seize on them and often paint a very alarmist picture in their stories.
Fortunately, the real picture is not all black, there are also some positive aspects. The leather industry is making considerable progress in improving its environmental performance. This paper will look at risk and life-cycle assessment of leather dyes.
The identification of humanhealth and environmental hazards are important prerequisites for risk and life cycle assessment. Good quality information on exposure is needed to address the risk objectively, and possible options for risk reduction. Risk management should indeed start with a careful selection of colorants that exhibit the required performance with regard to substrate affinity, fastness and other boundary conditions.
The environmental risk posed by a colorant can be defined in both its inherent ecotoxicity and the concentrations attained in the environmental compartments. There is an increasing body of circumstantial evidence indicating that the portion of colorants entering the environment is ultimately degradable either by biological or photochemical pathways.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=7934
