Titre : Foamed thin wall packaging Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Thomas Leng, Auteur Année de publication : 2007 Article en page(s) : p. 131-132 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Super light injection molding - A packaging manufacturer and two equipment suppliers have developed a technology that is exclusive in Europe for the production of thin wall packaging in PP and taken this through to the industrial production stage. The process which is marketed as SLIM (Super Light Injection Molding) combines foaming and thin wall injection molding with the use of exceptionally thin labels for in-mold labeling. Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Together with partner companies Engel has developed a highly integrated process for delivering pre-finished visible parts in a single working step. For Fakuma 2017, the development partners expanded the range of Clearmelt applications and presented the first manufacturing cell for exterior automotive parts that is almost ready to go into series production. Note de contenu : - Pooled competence
- Assistance systems boost process consistency
- Color changes in less than 15 minutes
- Filling backlit displays with PU
- Control elements without buttons or switches
- Fig. 1. The D-pillars were produced during Fakuma 2017 on a Duo injection molding machine
- Fig. 2. The Clearmelt process is fully automated. A linear robot removes the pre-finished parts and places them on the conveyor belt
- Fig. 3. The CC300 controller of the injection molding machine controls the entire process, including PU processing
- Fig. 4. The multi-connect color modules are designed as mobile carriages that dock on to the isocyanate unit and are controlled by it

Titre : Injection moulded design Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Thomas Leng, Auteur ; Rüdiger Grings, Auteur Année de publication : 2005 Article en page(s) : p. 74-76 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Packaging - Multi-component packaging decorated by IML is in continually increasing demand. The reasons for this lie in today’s high packaging design requirements and the need to communicate ever more product information via the packaging. In addition, the process is exceptionally cost-effective, as is the assembly of individual components into one packaging article by injection moulding. Because of plastics’ relatively high permeability, they are not suitable for very long shelf lives. The breakthrough has been achieved with a multilayer barrier laminate that achieves a shelf life comparable to canned goods. Note de contenu : - Innovative multilayer barrier films

Elastomères -- Moulage par injectionIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : With the increasing digitalization of injection molding, new process parameters are coming under the spotlight. Engel, together with the Polymer Competence Center Leoben and Montan University Leoben, Austria, is using machine-learning methods to explore the potential of mold breathing for quality assurance in rubber injection molding. This research project was supported by the partner company SKF Sealing Solutions Austria. Note de contenu : - Trainings set as a basis for Subsequent inline error Identification
- Determining dynamic material behavior
- Correlation between mold breathing and cavity pressure
- Process monitoring with principal component analysis
- Fig. 1 : Mold breathing: The mold is compressed by the build-up of the clamping force. During filling, the resulting part generates an opening force, which is counteracted by the compression. The opening force is proportional to the cavity pressure and to the projected surface area
- Fig. 2 : The maximum mold temperature at the cycle end follows immediately after the setpoint values of the heating elements
- Fig. 3 : The tan(δ) values of the elastomer parts are strongly influenced by the mold temperature. SPE statistics allow changes in the process conditions potentially leading to rejects to be recognized
- Fig. 4 : Mold breathing responds with a delay compared to the cavity pressure, but then simultaneously reaches a pronounced peak. Maxima of mold breathing and cavity pressure are strongly positively correlated
- Table 1 : In preliminary tests, settings ensuring a stable manufacturing process were found for all process parameters.
