Résumé : |
A series of polyurethane anionomer dispersions (PUD) was prepared from isophorone diisocyanate, polyester polyol and dimethylol propionic acid as a hydrophilic monomer. The principal polyols used were aromatic, aliphatic and cycloaliphatic type. The effect of polyol type was evaluated in terms of thermal, mechanical and physico-chemical properties of PUD samples. The results revealed that the chain flexibility affected particle-size. During phase inversion the dispersed phase can be more easily broken into smaller particles. The aromatic ring structure of dicarboxylic acid provided the PUD with rigidity which is manifested in high tensile strength, hardness and chemical resistance. However, such coatings suffer limitations with respect to low colloidal and thermal stabiltiy. The studies on film properties revealed that the polyurethane dispersion based on 1, 4 cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid exhibits better properties as compared to aromatic and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids. |
