Résumé : |
Trend report - Engine - In the past 50 years, numerous metal parts in the engine compartment have been replaced with thermoplastic counterparts. The result is that plastics represent approx. 17 % of the entire vehicle. Projections assume that with applications such as engine oil pans, charge-air ducts and engine mounts, the plastic content in the engine compartment will increase further in the near term. On the other hand, with the increasing use of alternative drive systems, the plastic content will decline in the long term. Whether the long-term projections will actually be fulfilled cannot be given a reliable answer on the basis of today’s estimates. |
