Résumé : |
Conventional lime-sulfide unhairing systems have the advantages of effective unhairing, consistent quality and low cost. The main disadvantage of the lime-sulfide unhairing system is the disposal of sulfide wastes.
Since environmental considerations have greatly altered the cost effectiveness of conventional lime-sulfide processes, an investigation was made of the practicality of alternate chemical systems.
The systems employed lime, caustic soda, reducing agents, and protein dispersants.
A number of unhairing systems resulted in hair loosening that could be satisfactory for hair saving systems. Of the systems studied, only sodium borohydride resulted in hair destruction. |
