Résumé : |
In order to obtain starch free tanning extracts from canaigre roots, several experiments were conducted at the laboratory level. The results of these experiments were utilized to design the process at the pilot plant level.
The tanning extract yield in the laboratory test was 50% containing 70% of tannins. The process used at the laboratory level was also used at the pilot plant level obtaining maximum yields of 47% of extract.
In the experimental trials run in the pilot plant it was found that the temperature has a very important effect on the extraction as well as on the quality of the extracts.
The other two variables tested, residence time and solvents to solids ratio, did not show any significant effect on the results of the extraction at the experimental levels tested. |
