Tannage Résumé : In the current economic climate leather factories need to redesign their processes to add value to their production in order to increase their competitiveness. In this respect, the use of a cross-linker opens up opportunities for the leather industry to obtain both high performance and eco-friendly articles. This study explores the cross-linking reaction between a polycarbodiimide and both acrylic resins and polyurethanes.
A comparison of results shows that polycarbodiimide is a very selective cross-linker since it presents both different reticulation speeds and different cross-linking reaction rates depending on the type of binder employed. In addition, and depending on the type of tanned/retanned leather used, different amounts of polycarbodiimide are required in order to obtain optimum results.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bSzugBa6E16r4BGKvwUEpGKzb_VQEC4n/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9626

At the same time, it needs to manufacture fashionable and high-quality articles in order to increase competitiveness. As part of this, factories have to replace solvent-based products by water-based products in their finishing formulations to reduce the level of volatile organic compounds. The addition of a cross-linker is required in most cases in order to obtain high performance aqueous finishes. The aim of the present work is to explore the cross-linking reaction between polyisocyanate and both acrylic binders and polyurethanes.
A comparision of results shows that polyisocyanate presents a very fast reticulation (cross-linking) speed at room temperature and has a pot-life of only 4 hours. In order to obtain optimum fastness values, different amounts of polyisocyanate are required, the amounts depend on the type of leather used and the physical characteristics of the binders employed.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The aim of this work is the characterization and evaluation of four types of topcoats used in leather finished leather samples using the same products. The samples were tested in the laboratory to evaluate their physical resistances and fastness properties.
A comparison of results shows that all the products studied for each type of topcoat present practically the same functional groups ; there are no significatn differences between the recorded spectra of each of the products in a group and the spectra once they have been applied to the leather. In addition, there are no significant differences in the physical resistances and fastnesses obtained, except for the organoleptic properties (level of gloss, feel, etc.). However, strong evidence seems to indicate that topcoat improves wet properties of the finished leather. Moreover, the study of th IR spectra bothy of the products and finished leather samples after an accelerated ageing test provides more objective date rather than that obtained from traditional methods.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dtpmNCmm-frnElkxvFF1NHmiOWmwsrI-/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6102
