Waxing can both slightly inhibit and enormously increase the harmful effect of aggressive precipitation on the coating. This effect depends not only on the wax formulation but also to a crucial extent on the type of coating surface to be protected. The majority of the waxes tested led to greater coating damage than that which occurred with the unwaxed samples. Reliable conclusions about the effect of a special wax formulation can be made only after appropriate weathering tests on the various types of finish to be protected with that wax. The ADF test, which simulates practical conditions in a polluted environment better than conventional weathering tests, proved to be suitable for differentiating between the various wax formulations. Note de contenu : - Effect of the wax formulation
- Effect of the quantity of wax applied and the ageing state of the coating surfaces to be waxed
- Effect of waxing on coating ageing under natural weathering conditionsPermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11422

[article]
Titre : The environmental etch resistance of high-quality PU clear coats Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ulrich Schulz, Auteur ; Peter Trubiroha, Auteur ; Theodor Enghert, Auteur ; Thomas Klimmasch, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 18-25 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : everal base coat/clear coat systems with high-quality PU clear coats for automotive finishing were tested in order to prove the influence of the clear coat type (one-pack and two-pack), the application (water-borne and solvent-borne) and the formulation (different hardener combinations) on the environmental etch resistance. Exposure was carried out using the ADF test (acid dew and fog test) which is a new accelerated artificial weathering test including the simulation of acid atmospheric precipitation. The known better appearance durability of the two-pack clear coats compared to the one packs in harsh environmental conditions could be confirmed in the new weathering test. The water-borne clears proved to be just as good as the solvent-borne ones. The coating formulation showed a strong influence on the weatherability. Titre : A tremendous step forwards Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ulrich Schulz, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 37-42 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A new level of quality : this is the verdict of Ulrich Schulz from the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin on the new generation of Instruments following his tour of European Coatings Show 2001. The measurement and test instruments available reflect the rapid development. In the field of raw materials, coatings, printing inks and application technologies. At the same time, they have a strong practical bias : measurements can be carried out easily, rapidly and conveniently, closely tailored to meet the specific requirements of the tester and the demands of quality assurance. Note de contenu : - Instruments are more portable than ever
- A must: conforming to standards
- Greater accuracy and reliability and even more rapid serial measurements
- Better and more complex simulation of critical environmental influences and their effects
- Depth expansibility, adhesion, mar resistance, roughness - all accurately measurable
- Paint ageing and corrosion made visible
- Trend colour and gloss meters: portable, precise and efficient
- Rheometers/viscometers: modular construction and universal application
- Film thickness measuring devices : apply and measure
- Hardness and contact angle: simple, automated measurementsPermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10952
