Waxing can both slightly inhibit and enormously increase the harmful effect of aggressive precipitation on the coating. This effect depends not only on the wax formulation but also to a crucial extent on the type of coating surface to be protected. The majority of the waxes tested led to greater coating damage than that which occurred with the unwaxed samples. Reliable conclusions about the effect of a special wax formulation can be made only after appropriate weathering tests on the various types of finish to be protected with that wax. The ADF test, which simulates practical conditions in a polluted environment better than conventional weathering tests, proved to be suitable for differentiating between the various wax formulations. Note de contenu : - Effect of the wax formulation
- Effect of the quantity of wax applied and the ageing state of the coating surfaces to be waxed
- Effect of waxing on coating ageing under natural weathering conditionsPermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11422

Cotton fabrics were pretreated with 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonuium chloride and cationic charges were produced on the fabric surfaces. For the dyeing of cotton fabric, reactive and acid dyes were used. Oppositely charged anionic reactive/acid dyes and cationic poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) were alternately deposited on the surface of cationised cotton fabrics. Ten multilayer films of dye/poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) were deposited on the cotton fabric surfaces using a padder. The build-up of the multilayer films and the level of colour strength (K/S) achieved are discussed. Samples of cotton fabrics were also dyed with the same dyes, but using the exhaust method, and both types of dyed samples were compared. The washing, rubbing and light fastness properties were evaluated for the dyed fabrics. Because the transformation of rust steel surfaces by phosphoric acid solutions depends strongly on the interfacial conditions, the first step in this work was the clear definition of rust formation conditions and of a reproducible technique for burshing them to a known degree as defined in standard SIS 055900. After that, the best range of acid concentration was optimised in the case of phosphoric acid solutions and phosphoric acid solutions saturated with aluminium hydroxide.
Several characterisation techniques were used, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), infrared spectrometry (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), to interpret the phenomenon of rust transformation. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that the best anti-corrosive behaviour of phosphoric acid solutions is obtained when they are saturated with aluminium hydroxide.Note de contenu : - Steel substrated used
