Structure chimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The influence of nano-silica doping on the growth behavior and corrosion resistance of γ-APS silane films fabricated by electrochemical-assisted deposition was systematically investigated by reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, contact angle test and neutral salt spray test. Density functional theory calculation was also applied to elaborate the adsorption behavior of γ-APS on low carbon steel surfaces. And meanwhile, the changes of surface coverage and dissolved oxygen reduction in the cathode surface over time were intensively analyzed according to the I–t curve during electrodeposition process. The experimental results revealed that the impedance values of the composite films firstly increased and then decreased with increasing nano-silica concentration, and there was a critical doping concentration about 0.4 g·L−1, under which the obtained γ-APS silane composite films presented high compactness and protective properties. Other results were highly consistent with the electrochemical results. Moreover, the hydroxyl-rich nano-silica was also involved in the chemical reactions that occurred on the metal surfaces, and the influence mechanism was proposed.

Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Anticorrosive polyurethane coating compositions were compounded using novel zinc-free nanosized phosphates: aluminum ammonium phosphates (AAP) or calcium aluminum ammonium phosphates (CAAP). For comparison, a nanosized strontium phosphate (SP), AAP/SP mixtures, and a microsized zinc phosphate (ZP) were tested. Paints containing ammonium-modified phosphates exhibited similar or a slightly higher viscosity than systems with SP or ZP. Nevertheless, coatings with the AAP or CAAP reached significantly better gloss and adhesion to a steel substrate as well as a slightly higher hardness. Results of a salt spray test showed that anticorrosive properties of the coatings containing AAP/SP mixtures were markedly better in relation to the systems containing solely AAP, CAAP, SP, or ZP. Electrochemical tests revealed the best barrier/anticorrosive features for AAP (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization) or SP and CAAP (a novel electrochemical noise technique). Titre : Inhibited aluminium vacuum metallised flakes for water-based inks and coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Martin J. Fay, Auteur Année de publication : 2016 Article en page(s) : p. 38-39 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.4 Encres Résumé : VMF pigment is produced by stripping vacuum metallised aluminium from polymer film using a solvent, such as ethyl acetate. This is followed by several process steps that ultimately results in a 10% -20% solids dispersion (figure 2).
Prior to metallisation, the substrate film is coated with a 'release coating' designed to dissolve rapidly in the stripping solvent. Since there will be some residual release coating in the final product, the nature of the release coating can be important for compatibility and post treatment.
Controlling the thickness of the metallised flake is very important to maintain a consistent visuel effect. Flake thickness is typically between 100-400 angstroms. In practice, flake thickness is controlled by the optical density or surface resistivity of the metallised film.
As flake thickness decreases, the appearance becomes darker and the overall reflectivity increases. The greater reflectivity of thinner flakes can be attributed to less light scattering from the flakes edges. The scanning electron image in figure 3 illustrates typical flake dimensions.Note de contenu : - Manufacturing process

(Wikipedia)
Métaux -- Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This research investigated the possibility of adding inhibitors into magnesium-rich primer (MgRP) to prolong the corrosion protection time of MgRP on Al alloy 2024-T3. Three inhibitors: sodium benzoate (SB), sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS), and 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ), were tested and added into MgRPs separately. Potentiodynamic scans on pellet electrodes confirmed that the inhibitors reduced Mg corrosion rate. The coating systems with and without inhibitors were compared through electrochemical tests, hydrogen volume measurement, accelerated weathering tests, and adhesion tests. It was observed that the addition of SB, SDBS, and HQ into MgRPs could prolong cathodic protection time and improved barrier properties of MgRPs, without compromising adhesion strength.
