Résumé : |
Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) are materials that have the ability to absorb and retain large volumes of water and aqueous solutions or solvents. They were first developed by the United States Department of Agriculture in the la 1960s for conditioning the soiil in the arid area. These polymers could absorb several hundred times water of their own weight and thus retain the moisture in the soil. Thus even with a small rain fall, the water does not flow off or percolate in the ground butremains available on or very slightly below the surface. Thereafter, many improvements have taken place in this field. |
