The most recent branch of photovoltaics research involves polymer solar cells based on organic conjugated functional polymers. With semiconductor layer thicknesses around one-thousandth the thickness of a human hair, these polymer solar cells represent the thinnest of all thin-layer technologies. With their comparatively low investment and production costs, they are highly attractive. |
