The silane-terminated polyurethanes, which showed low viscosity due to the end-capping by HO-silane, could be chain-extended by butanediol to enhance the performance of SPU in non-solvent condition. The effects of chain extender, 1,4-butanediol, and NCO/OH molar ratio (R value) on the properties of silane-terminated polyurethane were investigated. The results show that the hydroxy silane coupling agent and the silane-terminated polyurethane that can be moisture-cured at ambient temperature were successfully synthesized. It is found that by introducing the 1,4-butanediol segment into SPU main chain, the viscosity of SPU was increased, but the tack free time of SPU was shortened, and the hardness and tensile strength of the moisture-cured SPU film were enhanced. As the R value increased, the tack free time of the silane-terminated polyurethane was prolonged, and the hardness and the tensile strength of the moisture-cured film were increased, but the elongation at break was decreased. When the amount of 1,4-butanediol was 10 wt% and the R value was 1.3, respectively, silane-terminated polyurethane with viscosity of 51,000 mPa·s (80% solid content) can be obtained. The tensile strength of the moisture-cured film was 1.1 MPa, and the elongation at break was 713.4%, which shows great potential for sealant and coating applications.
VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the present study, vinyltrimethoxysilane was used to modify high-ortho novolac resin (NR) to obtain a vinyl silicone-modified phenolic oligomer (Si-mod NR). Subsequently, this oligomer is polymerized with methyl methacrylate. The mid-products (NR and Si-mod NR) and synthesized silicone-modified phenolic/acrylic resin (Ac/Si-mod NR) were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermal properties were investigated by using thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. In addition, the surface coating properties, including drying, hardness, adhesion, impact resistance, gloss, acid, alkaline, water, and solvent resistance of the films prepared from these products, were comparatively investigated. The results showed that the modification reactions yield a novel resin (Ac/Si-mod NR), which can be easily used as a surface coating material with high thermal resistance, flexibility, and excellent film properties. TaninsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : More and more bio-based materials are used in waterborne polyurethanes (WPUs) due to their non-toxic and pollution-free advantages. In this paper, waterborne polyurethanes (WPU) were synthesised from 2, 4-Toluene diisocyanate (TDI-80) and polypropylene glycol (PPG, Mn=1000). Four kinds of WPU leather finishing agents (WPUO, WPU1, WPU2, WPU3) were prepared by adding different contents of the bio-based material tannic acid (TA) as a cross-linking agent. After a series of tests, the results showed that the thermal degradation temperature of WPU films and their tensile strength increased with the rise of TA content. When 0.6g TA was added, the tensile strength and thermodynamic stability reached the highest values, but the elongation at break was the lowest at the same time. The addition of the cross-linking agent TA reduced the hydrophilicity of the WPU film from% 40.8% to 16.2%. In the application of leather finishing, both dry and wet rubbing increased 1 to 2 grades through the introduction of TA and the folding fastness also improved significantly. The molecular chains were more closely arranged, and the distances between the molecules were also reduced on account of the incorporation of TA, resulting in a decrease in water vapour permeability. Based on this, the water contact angle of the finished leather has also increased from 68° to 99°. Each of us has different needs ; when it comes to sunscreens, factors like skin sensitivity, application format preferences and sensorial expectations vary depending on the purpose or area of use. Therefore, a single sunscreen formulation that meets every user’s expectations at any time is unrealistic. Hence, the objective of this paper is to guide formulators in providing formulation solutions that meet the various needs of individuals.
