Titre : Dying facility modernization Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : R. H. Hankey, Auteur ; J. F. Loxston, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 84-88 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The fundamental objectives behind the project were to rationalise the management system and to modernise the dyeing facilities. Three key topics: people, process, and equipment were studied. People: The abilities of each individual in various subjects were assessed with respect to technical ability, team working, and communication skills. Training was then implemented, where necessary, to ensure a competent close working team was formed. Process: Processes were scrutinised, new approaches were taken up with regards to robustness and simplification. This constituted the need for increased research and development and process monitoring in bulk production. Equipment: This involved assessing different types and constructions of dyeing vessels, determining the correct quality of process water and assessing computer colour match prediction systems. It also meant sourcing a control system capable of controlling chemical additions (including water) along with vessel operation which provides historical data manipulation. From the completed project the building of a new dyeing facility was implemented. This involved 18 new wooden dyeing drums complete with recirculation, filtration and automatic drain valves. In addition, all pumpable chemicals including water are automatically added by computer control. Filtering and softening the process water supply has also been completed. As a result of this modernization, the following improvements have been seen: reduced labour costs, greater consistency, refined processes, reduced production costs, increased production efficiencies and reduced environmental impact. Titre : Chemical modification of collagen hydrolyzates Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Mircea Dan Bucevschi, Auteur ; Mihai Chirita, Auteur ; Monica Colt, Auteur ; Gheorghe Chirita, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 89-95 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The paper presents the synthesis of acylated and esterified derivatives of collagen hydrolyzates. Also, the influence of average molecular weight, type of reactive, PH, temperature and reactant concentration on the properties of the resulting products are discussed. Blocking of the basic function has been made in aqueous medium with acid chlorides and anhydrides. A non-aqueous method has been used for esterification with aliphatic alcohols. Titre : Compact methods for the wet end Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alois Püntener, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 96-103 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Neutralization, retanning, dyeing and fatliquoring when applied in compact formulations require a special selection of products and/or product combinations that are compatible. Decisive, are not only economical advantages such as time reduction, higher production capacity utilization but also ecological benefits like saving of water. In addition to these advantages, the performance and the final use of leather should not to be overlooked. The theoretical background for achieving satisfactory results and practical hints are discussed in this presentation. Special focus is given to upgrading of lower quality leathers.
