Time and again thermosetting materials are substituted with polyamide 6 and 66 (PA6 and PA66) as well as polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). In most cases the reason for this is that the use of thermoplastics reduces processing costs, which on balance leads to a lower cost for the finished part. Further incentives for a change of material result from new improved thermoplastics, new or modified standards, for instance flame retardancy for railway rolling stock, or new material requirements through technological advances. |
