Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : High extrusion temperatures result in the most opaque powder coatings. Titre : Getting the air out : Polyesters with reduced reactivity for β-hydroxyalkylamide powder coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : R. J. M. Overkamp, Auteur ; A. R. Hofkamp, Auteur ; H. J. Stuiver, Auteur ; M. H. J. Schutte, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 23-29 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In powder coatings based on polyester resins and β-hydroxyalkylamide hardeners, degassing of air and water can often pose a problem. This situation can be significantly Improved using polyesters containing aliphatic acid end groups. A larger fraction of aliphatic end groups reduces the reactivity and improves the degassing behaviour. Because this fraction can be varied Independent of the glass transition temperature of the resin, other properties such as gloss, impact resistance and durability are not significantly affected. Note de contenu : - Fast reaction mechanism can prevent proper flow
- How to introduce lower rectivity without reducing film properties?
- Aliphatics acids rect slowler, but lower Tg
- Process conditions affect reactivity - independent of Tg

Titre : Solvent free masonry paints - a comparative study Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Manfred Schwartz, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 30-37 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In masonry coatings, as in many other application fields, the most interesting binders are those which permit solvent-free paint formulation. This requirement can be achieved by reducing the M FFT of the paints' binder. Polymers which form a film below to 5°C make a solvent free paint formulation possible. The present work deals with experiments made with solvent-free masonry paints in comparison with solvent containing paints. The influence of the white pigment, titanium dioxide, on masonry paints Is also discussed. Note de contenu : - Chosen binder systems

Titre : Waterborne primers achieve early performance Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Johan G. Nienhuis, Auteur ; Mick G. Pemberton, Auteur ; Caroline Sluiter, Auteur ; Ronald van de Nesse, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 38-44 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In comparison with the solvent borne paint systems for joinery industries, the water borne systems have a better durability. However, these systems have a tendency to perform badly in an early stage after application. This can be due to a slow process of film formation, which is depending on the relative humidity and temperature. This article will describe a method to improve the early performance, such as adhesion under wet circumstances, by addition of an isocyanate. This isocyanate crosslinker is able to help the water borne primer to form a better film and, possibly, connects the binder to the wood. Further fine adjustments to the binder and also to the method of application will result in a system applicable for the joinery industries. Note de contenu : - Wood : how to win competition from PVC and aluminium window frames
- Isocyanate is able to fix the binder to the wood
- Increase in performance leads to a longer guarantee
- Selected isocyanate : stability and easy to mix in water
- Adjusments of binder system
- Optimal application is given by flow-cover with bypass
- HPLC for determination of the isocyanate concentration in waterborne coatings
- Remarks on results
- Wet adhesion improved by addition of isocyanate
- Wet demonstration after blister-box exposure
- Adhesions tests demonstrated performance decreases in time

Peshane, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 45-61 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the present study various polyurethane dispersions were synthesised using different polyester diols as soft segments. The effect of type of polyester diol synthesised, on the surface and bulk mechanical properties were examined. It was observed that the number of alkylene groups present in the repeat unit of polyester soft segment (PESS) and its structure had a pronounced effect on the mechanical properties in addition to its molecular weight. With a proper selection of the soft segment, it is possible to fine-tune properties of aqueous polyurethane dispersion coatings with respect to the final application. Note de contenu : - Experimental

Eranian, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 64-70 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The impact of particle size, size distribution, and silica loading influence film properties of UV-cured hybrid organic-inorganic thin coatings. Commercial silica organols of hexanediol diacrylate monomer (HDDA) containing different monodisperse silica nanospheres were mixed with a polyester tetraacrylate (PEA) to give coatings controlled particle size distribution and silica loading (O to 40%). Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) measurements showed that complex modulus (E*) increased and loss tangent (tanδ) decreased with small particle size and high silica content, but the dynamic glass transition temperature (Tq) was unaffected by size and size distribution. In all cases, the properties of hybrid coatings were found superior to the pure organic coating. Note de contenu : - Mixing small and large particles to get desired properties
