Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The application of electrolyte stable fatliquoring agents in the chrome tannage has been the state of the art for many years. Due to the polar structure of the fatliquor molecules, chemical and physical interactions with the tanning float are conceivable. Seven different electrolyte-stable fatliquor preparations were tested for their influence on the basification of chrome liquors with magnesium oxide during tannage. It was found that preparations of neutral oil and alkylsulfonates do not have any influence on the pH profile and that cationic emulsified oils exert only a slight influence. However, all fatliquor preparations that contain sulfosuccinates gave lower pHs at moderate temperatures. We determined that this was caused by the formation of slightly soluble magnesium sulfosuccinate compounds. This process is reversible by an increase in temperature, i. e. at temperatures of > 40 °C the final pH is achieved which is the same as a basification without addition of fat-liquoring agents. Also, sulfited products influence the basification in a similar way as the sulfosuccinate products. However, the described effect could not be observed in trials with a test solution (without skin material), so that here the cause has to be searched for in an interaction between fatliquor, skin substance, and magnesium ions. Tannage Résumé : The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has recently proposed a new regulation for the placing on the market of mixtures and articles containing bisphenols. If the draft is implemented without changes, this will - after various transition times - result in very low limits for these chemicals in leather auxiliaries and leather articles. When it comes to syntans, bisphenols are raw materials and unwanted side products, respectively. State-of-the-art production technologies for syntans might not succeed in lowering bisphenol content to the proposed limits, though. As syntans play an essentiel part in the production of almost all of today's leather articles, the new regulation will lead to a disruptive change in the selection of chemicals in common recipes. Zschimmer & Schwarz has anticipated this issue and presents the first solutions to achieve completely bisphenol-free leather. Note de contenu : - Importance of syntans
