Modern leathers are processed to very stringent technical specifications so that they will meet end use requirements. In most cases, to fulfil current demands for leather with very fastness, the use of cross-linkers is needed.
Due to differences in the manufacturing processes of polyurethanes and acrylic binders, their structural differences, and the type of tanned and retanned leather being used, variations in cross-linking may occur. Quality discrepancies will therefore be observed in the finished leather.
This study explores the influence of a cationic pre-bottom on the cross-linking reaction of polyaziridine, as well as the influence of the type of polymer employed and the type of tannage and retannage effected on the amount of cross-linker needed to improve wet physical properties of the finishing.
A comparison of results shows that the application of a cationic pre-bottom improves fastness to wet rub, this improvement being most significant in polyurethane rather than in acrylic binders. Furthermore, the cationic prebottom provides beter results when working with resin-synthetic-vegetable retanned leather and vegetable leathers. However, different amounts of polyaziridine are needed with regard to the content of carboxylic acid groups of the polymers being used.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_vAFG39wvCNrj5Axv_7qzNT9PhfrjBXm/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5937

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In this work, the feasibility of an oxidative liming process with hydrogen peroxide in alkaline medium was studied. The possible reduction in water consumption by float recyclinbg and in effluent loadings by precipitation and separation of proteins contained inthe liming effluents were also investigated.
On the basis of preliminary trials, a second order central rotatable design as a function of both the hydrogen peroxide offer and the mechanical action of the drum, was applied to detemrine the variation of selected physical properties of chrome leather previously subjected to the oxidative liming process. This process was compared with a conventional liming process with sodium sulphide and calcium hydroxide.
Subsequently, a study on the quantification of water consumption as well as analyses of COD, soluble solids and suspended matter of the resulting wastewater were carried out for a given hydrogen peroxide offet and drum mechanical action.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/16-g98ChCQaqwB-yjvGACvAsbXrMuf93F/view?usp=share [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8055

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The aim of this project was to develop a type of unhairing using hydrogen peroxide, commercial amine and enzyme products. This unhairing system, which was carried out on a pilot plant scale, enables hair recovery and recirculation of floats in order to save water. The effect of the amine and enzyme products on the properties of vegetable-tanned leather was studied. In addition, five more consecutive unhairing processes were carried out by recirculating the effluents and reusing them according to their composition. After analysing the floats, the results obtained were compared to those achieved by using a reductive unhairing process with hair recovery. The results showed a 65 percent saving of water and a 97 percent decrease in toxicity. These results were compared with the bibliographical values of a reductive unhairing with hair dissolution. Dolors Borras ; Agusti Marsal Année de publication : 1996 Article en page(s) : p. 120-122 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A vegetable-zinc combination tannage on lambskin has been studied, with special attention being given to the intended final product, in an attempt to optimise the process. This kind of chrome-free tannage enables us to obtain leathers with a shrinkage temperature above 100°C.
The research was carried out in two stages. First, the possible influence of several parameters was studied with the help of an experimental design of the 2v5-1 type. These parameters included the extract and zinc salt used temperature, whether or not tannage had taker place in the same bath and the basification system.
In the second stage research followed a centralised experimental design of the second order. This ought to enable us to assess the influence of the vegetable extract (mimosa, quebracho, chestnut) and zinc sulphate offers on the final product.
The conclusions of the final stage were reached by means of analysis of the response surfaces obtained for the main physical and chemical properties involved.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/15VI2kQdmGlD_QDqkJAFDxaeI1Mvnbtc7/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8126
