However, to get the best performance from such formulations they must be cured at high temperatures (around 150 °C), which means
that the process is energy-consuming and has a high environmental impact. However, lower curing temperatures, especially at room temperature, normally yield very porous non-protective coatings. Moreover, some large parts cannot be placed in an oven (e. g. a ship’s hull) and others are heat-sensitive substrates (polymers) that deteriorate when heated.Note de contenu : - Sol-gels
