Titre : Cohesive and adhesive interactions of polymeric coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Thadeus Schauer, Auteur ; Markus Berger, Auteur ; Claus D. Eisenbach, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 76-80 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Thermal stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) was applied to examine the cohesive and adhesive interactions of polymeric coatings. With this method it was found that the curing of the two-pack alkyd melamine, epoxy and polyurethane coatings as well as the interactions with pigments, fillers and metallic substrates can be evaluated from changes in the a relaxation or shifts in the glass transition temperature. Together with complimentary tests, the measurements showed that the preferential adsorption of a hardener on the metal substrate is an important factor, which can decisively influence the adhesion of coatings. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Specimens and coatings - TSDC - DMTA/DMA - SVET - Blister test - µ-TA
- Hardener content affects AKM and EPO or PUR coatings differently

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A choice of eight non-chromate commonly used corrosion protective pigments has been tested in polyurethane organic and waterborne primers with the application of diverse physicochemical, corrosion and electrochemical methods. A clear dependency was found between the efficiency of barrier and active pigments on the barrier properties of coatings toward water and ions. For barrier pigments conditions of reduced penetration of water and ions through the coating are more favourable, for active pigments a limited diffusion of water promotes their corrosion protective efficiency. It was also possible to differentiate between efficiency and mechanism of action of single pigments and conclude about the correlation of applied methods. Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Special nanocontainers, micro- and nanocapsules can be incorporated in an anticorrosive primer formulation to provide self-healing properties that take effect as soon as the primer is mechanically damaged. As the matrix continuity and the interfaces are affected, we cannot fully evaluate the performance of such 'self-healing' primers by eye. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) combined with thermocyclic electrolytic loading (TEL) contributes significantly to evaluating such systems. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The stability of aqueous dispersions of a rutile titanium dioxide pigment (TiO2) under ultrasonic treatment in the presence of such water-soluble polymers as poly(vinyl pyrrolidone), poly(vinyl alcohol), ethylhydroxy ethylcellulose was studied. Without polymers, the ultrasonic treatment of a dilute TiO2 aqueous dispersion results in a rapid complete reflocculation of the dispersion. In the presence of a given polymer, a stabilizing effect was observed, which depends on the nature of a polymer, its concentration and the duration of the ultrasonic treatment. It resulted in a reduction of a particle size and a more narrow particle size distribution. The TiO2 particles with preliminary surface treatment by oxides of Al, Si and Zr show higher dispersion stability in comparison with non-treated particles. Note de contenu : - The experiment
- Ultrasonic treatment causes the formation of fresh surfaces
- Different degree of degradation of the polymers causes different behaviour in the ultrasonic field
- Polymer adsorption on the pigment surface and creation of a stabilizing layer
- Inorganic treatment of the pigment surface is conductive to particle stabilization with polymersPermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11061

Pigments inorganiquesIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : The effects of milling standard phosphate-based anticorrosive pigments to nanoparticle size have been investigated. Notably, the finer particles were able to approach the metal surface more closely when formulated into a primer. Several different tests in an epoxy primer confirmed that the nano-particles gave better corrosion resistance than the standard form of the same pigment.
