As production is product specific and costs are always an issue, trimming and drilling work is of special importance to minimize time and cost while constantly improving quality. Therefore, post-processing of CFRP materials is often accompanied by mechanical works like drilling or edge trimming before further use for asembly, where liquid lubricants are typically applied. High-precision holes, or dimensions (edge cutting) are needed to fulfil the requirements of the subsequent assembly process. Note de contenu : - Testing setup for surface analysis
- Surface analysis
- Overview and future steps
- Lifetime evaluation in drilling use cases
- Recommendation for the use of SLE in machining
- Conclusion and next steps
- Fig. 1 : CFRP sample (lower part) and the corresponding SLE part (upper part - the visible side is adhesive tape) after a trimming experiment
- Fig. 2 : CFRP sample after drilling tests with SLE, after removal of SLE. Position of IR measurement is marked by a red dot
- Fig. 3 : Comparison of cleaned pure CFRP with CFRP next to trimming edge after SLE removal. An additional absorption peak is visible at 1?700-1,750 cm-1, indicating a slight adhesive tape residue remaining on the CFRP after SLE removal
