A series of novel waterborne polyurethane/urea copolymer dispersions are made by the incorporation of polyamide segments in the backbone of the resins. These new segmented copolymers exhibit outstanding properties for coating applications. The performance advantage is most pronounced in heat-resistance, hydrolytic stability, chemical resistance, hardness development and adhesion to a variety of substrates. The general chemical and physical properties of these new segmented copolymers and comparison to conventional waterborne resins are discussed. Potential use in demanding applications where conventional polymers fail to meet some of the performance requirements is suggested. Some unexpected properties in polyamide-segmented polymers, such as formation of a matte finish or improved performance upon heat ageing are also discussed.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Titre : New waterborne systems bring fast return-to-service and excellent aesthetics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Zheng Shiying, Auteur ; Robert Rasing, Auteur ; Nergiz Bozok, Auteur Année de publication : 2018 Note générale : Bibliogr.

ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The coating industry is constantly facing the challenges of more stringent low emission requirements and fulfilling the need to improve productivity and reduce cost while maintaining high coating performance. Technology advancements equipped the industry with new waterborne epoxy systems that deliver fast cure speed, improved coating robustness and better aesthetics over the service life. Thanks to low volatile organic content (VOC) and excellent coating properties, waterborne epoxy coatings have become a commercially important technology and gained wide acceptance as environmentally friendly alternatives for solvent-borne and solvent-free epoxy systems.
This paper highlights the development of a new waterborne epoxy curing agent based on novel amine technology. The product provides extremely fast cure speed even under adverse conditions such as low temperature and high humidity; superior adhesion to substrates when used as a primer, particularly on damp concrete; and excellent aesthetics as a topcoat. This enables coating formulators to design new coating concepts such as a one-day floor system consisting of a primer and topcoat applied on the same day that delivers walk-on readiness the next morning. This paper discusses model formulations based on the new curing agent, key features, and benefits of the new waterborne system.Note de contenu : - New amine building block eesign

Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Modern waterborne and conventional solvent-based coatings face a number of technical and commercial challenges. Additives are increasingly important for enabling the coating formulator to reach these ever-growing demands and advance the technology. Wetting, leveling, slip, recoatability or easy-to-clean properties are strongly influenced by surface-active additives. These surface additives migrate toward the coating/air or coating/substrate interface and tailor the surface or interface behavior. A unique possibility of building up multi-layer coating systems is to increase the surface energy of an underlying coating using hydrophilic additives, which positively affects the wetting of the subsequent coating layer.
les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;
