Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Dynamic Vapour Sorption has been evaluated as a novel efficacy-testing tool for determining the moisture retention properties of hair when treated with hydrolysed proteins. We have been able to demonstrate that hydrolysed proteins, when applied to hair from leave-on and rinse-off treatments, can increase the equilibrium moisture content of hair and also influence the kinetics of moisture tranfer. Studies have shown that certain hydrolysed proteins can reduce the rate of moisture uptake by hair at high relative humidity and reduce the rate of moisture loss at low relative humidity. Titre : Microbiology Titre original : Do Microorganisms Develop Resistance to Antimicrobial Biocides? Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Expert Judgement by the DGK Microbiology and Hygiene Expert Group, Auteur Année de publication : 2000 Article en page(s) : p. 35-37 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The fact that microorganisms develop increasingly resistance to antibiotics poses the question of how far biocides used in preservatives, disinfectants and antimicrobial cosmetics can be affected by this phenomenon. The extent and level of the risks are laid out in a judgement by the DGK Microbiology and Hygiene Expert Group (german association for scientific and applied cosmetics).
Questions concerning the development of resistance by microorganisms to antimicrobial active substances, hereinafter described as biocides, are discussed against the backdrop of an increase in antibiotic resistance of microorganisms also in connection with the biocides used in preservatives, disinfectants and antimicrobial cosmetics. More particularly, there are fears that similar epidemiology of resistance might develop as for antibiotics, and even that cross-resistance to chemotherapeutic agents could be induced by biocides.
Proper discussion is often hampered by imprecise terminology. Hence, clear definitions of terms are necessary which are described here.

Titre : Proceedings of a workshop on isolated perfused organs (Hamburg, 1998) Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Wolfgang F. Pittermann, Auteur Année de publication : 2000 Article en page(s) : p. 38-39 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : During the last decade a wide range of isolated organ systems have been developed in biomedical research. Sophisticated equipment, increasing manual skill, routine and standardisation have led to an increase of validity and precision of experimental results under circumstances that are virtually "true to life". Today these systems contribute a considerable amount of in-vitro knowledge to the scientific community.
Promoting animal welfare on all fields of Laboratory Animal Science (GV-SOLAS) has decided to organise a workshop during the 36th Scientific Meeting in Hamburg (Sept 1998) dealing with the development and definition of perfused isolated organ systems.Note de contenu : - Advantages and limitations of perfused isolated organs Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10837
