Consumers expect the paints they purchase to have a long shelf life. Most consumers expect paint products to be free of microorganisms until the final drop of the paint is used. There are no silver bullets to guarantee in-can protection, especially considering that paint companies have no control over how their paints are stored after purchase. Assessing likely uses and constantly evaluating plant hygiene will help formulators looking for the optimal bocide combination for their in-can preservation.
