However, after the hype of the last couple of years,many realized that the industry is still focusing on prototyping and mould making rather than manufacturing functional end-use parts. There are various reasons for this holdup, but one of the major weaknesses is the low mechanical performance of the plastic material itself, and especially of the interfaces between layers.
