Additive manufacturing creates an optimized mold that does not require a steam chamber and enables complex parts to be made with substantially shorter cycle times and significant energy savings. Note de contenu : - Adding, not subtracting ; stainless steel, not aluminum
- Three-layer mold concept
- Additive manufacturing integrates additional functions into the mold
- Mold weight and energy consumption reduced by more than 90%
- Fig. : Due to their functional lightweight design, additively manufactured molds support production of filigree molded parts with intricate surfaces, while simultaneously slashing energy consumption. The handle of a walking stick with inserts (not visible) serves as a demonstrator part here
- Fig. 1 : The new mold concept has a sandwich design. From inside to outside: shaping cavity wall, lattice structure, supporting outer wall
- Fig. 2 : The SLM process offers new design freedom, such as a combination of a thin cavity wall with a function-optimized lattice structure
- Fig. 3 : The thermal dynamics of the optimized stainless steel cavity are far superior to those of today's conventional aluminum molds
- Fig. 4 : Additive manufacturing is precise enough for use in particle-foam processing and obviates the need for downstream processing of the cavity
- Fig. 5 : Both the steam requirement for process control and the resulting cycle times demonstrate the savings potential of the new mold conceptEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jMoBW1UNXasZ8kFYQccBEi8L82iDOg0A/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=31104
