Textiles are transforming into multidisciplinary, high-tech products with exciting market potential. Textile goods for surgical procedures are being produced locally as a result of better coordination between textile technologists and medical researchers. The structure, material composition, fiber surface behavior, and degradation are used to identify textile structures after implantation. The creation of predictable, biologically friendly absorbable fibers will be of tremendous relevance for both tissue engineering constructs and suture materials. It will be very interesting to see how improved absorbable fibers perform as suture materials and as the foundation for tissue engineering projects. |
