Titre : Putting anti-fouling coatings to the test : Realistic simulation provides valuable information for paint manufacturers Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Bernd Daehne, Auteur ; Burkard Watermann, Auteur ; Constanze Fürle, Auteur Année de publication : 2018 Article en page(s) : p. 38-42 Note générale : Bibliogr. However, the mandatory tests for these coatings do not represent real-life conditions for the intended use. A novel circular test bench, that was developed in the R&D project "FoulProtect" funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (FZK: 03SX370E), uses a dynamic method to obtain accurate information, for example, on the minimum speeds required to activate self-cleaning effects and prevent fouling. Note de contenu : - Dynamic testing to simulate real-life conditions
- Novel circular system offers greater precision
- Speed impacts fouling rating
- Testing speed-activated self-cleaning property
- Realistic simulation provides valuable information
- FIGURES : 1. On each round plate 16 test panels are fixed to the testing facility - 2. The test brench is carried into the water at the beginning of the fouling season in April - 3. During the procedure the testing facility is mored at the pier of the Norderney harbour - 4. Schematic description of the test bench, 'Rotomarin' - 5. Bryozoa on a panel coated with a benchmark product (red), bryozoa and biofilm on a test panel (white), and dense coverage by tunicates at the inner part of the untreated negative panel in the middle (dark) - 6. Fouling rating on reference panels during the 2016 season at the outer part of the panels with speed above 6.5 knots - 7. Fouling rating on reference panels during the 2016 season at the outer part of the panels with speed below 6.5 knots - 8. The exact service speed that initiates the self-cleaning effect has been calculated as an example based on two well-performing coatingsEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G2Tyg8XjbrXi_x0TTVOJOyEfDfLia1N8/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=30236
