These specific needs limit the selection of suitable rheology modifiers. Novel diamide-based additives now offer processors flexibility over a wide range of activation temperatures and improved viscosity at low shear forces. ThixotropieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Adhesives and sealants based on modern silylated hybrid polymers, also called modified-silane polymers (MS, MSP or SPUR), are typically applied in very high thicknesses to fill wide gaps. That means that high sag- and slump-stability are required di-rectly after the application. Note de contenu : - Why is this a step forward ?

Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Wetting agents are added to waterborne coatings in order to increase the wetting of the substrate and to improve the compatibility with pigments and other components. Selection of the suitable wetting agent for desired formulation and application properties is critical. For example, anionic wetting agents can have excellent dynamic surface tension control but can often result in an increase in the foaminess of the grind that may appear as microfoam in the applied coating. Low foaming nonionic wetting agents have found value in industrial coatings, where microfoam cannot be tolerated however, they do not provide adequate surface tension control.
To overcome these limitations, a new low foaming, silicon and APEO free multifunctional wetting agent has been developed (SUPREAD® 2059). It provides antifoaming properties, as well as offering fast dynamic surface tension reduction for improved flow and levelling on difficult to wet surfaces like wood, plastics etc. The newly developed multifunctional wetting agent was tested in various coating formulations. The results of the study reveals its outstanding ability in surface wetting, antifoaming, pore filling on wood, block resistance and has shown no negative impact on gloss or rheology.Note de contenu : - BASICS OF WETTING
