Titre : Immune to electrical breakdown : Toray develops PPS with CTI 600 volts or performance level 0 for electrical applications Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : René Krämer, Auteur ; Christian Schirmer, Auteur Année de publication : 2019 Article en page(s) : p. 53-55 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Alliages polymères

Résistance au fluageIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Thanks to a patented plastic alloy based on nanotechnology, PPS compounds can be created that are tracking-resistant, even at very high voltages. These compounds prevent the undesired process of carbonization that can lead to an electrical short on the material surface. The PPS is especially suited for high-voltage applications in electric vehicles. Note de contenu : - Frame for electrical components
- Vicious circle of leaking current and carbonization
- Opportunities and limits of using fillers for heat conductors
- Variable properties
- Figure : Due to its very good stiffness and high melting point, electrical and electronic components are often injection overmolded using PPS
- Fig. 1 : At high temperatures the polymer used for insulation can carbonize in certain spots. If a consistent char path is formed, a short can occur on the component
- Fig. 2 : For PPS that contains Nanoalloy, the dispersion of the polymer components is finer than with conventional PPSEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JWm14PyjIsEZDwEpZ-FLtPoDOYfY39wE/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32993

Résistance thermiqueIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The different thermal expansion of plastics compared with metals makes it difficult to design components that combine both materials. A new test procedure simulates in a time lapse the aging process of plastic-metal hybrid components when temperatures change. Using two contrasting test procedures, reliable information can be derived to assist in the designer. Note de contenu : - Varying thermal expansion
- Two test blocks with different characteristics
- Comprehensive tests provide indications
- Fig. 1 : In this complexly formed high-voltage rail for electric vehicles, copper conductors were injection overmolded with PPS. Dut to the many conductors and various screw points, weld lines are reacted that become weak points when the temperature changes
- Fig. 2 : The two test blocks that were developed for the heat cycle tests are made of metal and plastic. The version to the left was injection-overmolded from the side and shows weld lines ; the one to the righe was injection-overmolded from above with no weld lines
- Fig. 3 : An overview of the thermal portfolio of properties of the plastics which were investigated. No compound delivered optimal results, but ype A675GS1B provides at least good, and, in many cases very good, results for all dimensions
- Fig. 4 : Completed heat cycles by various compounds up to the onset of a crack.
