ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : New rheology modifiers can offer paint and coating formulators a host of cost savings, write the authors.
Coatings formulations based on waterborne polymers usually rely on agents to adjust their rheology profile to optimise properties such as sedimentation, flow and levelling, sagging, spattering, etc. Achieving a combination of various properties in parallel represents a challenging task and all stages - handling of the liquid coating, coating application and final coating properties - need to be considered. Additionally the attention for formulation costs is gaining an increasing importance.
Recent Rohm and Haas product developments in the area of associative rheology modifiers led to three new product generations, responding to these identified market needs.Note de contenu : - Thickening mechanisms

Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Defoamers and other antifoam products play an important role in degassing and stabilising coatings, write the authors.
If you pour your beer into a glass next time, just hold on and look under the froth : tiny bubbles are growing in the liquid, rise and crowd together at the surface and a foam is formed. The first spherical foam is transformed gradually into polyhedral foam, where large gas cels are surrounded by little amounts of liquid. In coatings users try to avoid this, but it is not easy.Note de contenu : - Foam stabilisation

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A new intelligent waterborne concept is helping automotive companies meet emission limits.
Stringent emission standards call for smart solutions. DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) claims it is the world's first paint manufacturer to have introduced a waterborne basecoat system for the automotive industry that dries just as quickly as conventional solvent-borne basecoat.
This explains why the company's newly developed LCCC system can easily be integrated into conventional paint lines. The cost of changing over to the ecologically acceptable new system is less than 10% of the investment costs otherwise needed for a new paint line using waterborne materials.
The countries of Europe and North America set ambitious goals for the future of our environment when they approved the Göteborg protocol at the end of the millennium : two new environmental directives to reduce solvent emissions must be met by all automotive plants in Europe by 2007 (Solvent emissions directive, Integrated pollution prevention and control directive).
Total VOC emissions in the industrialised nations of Europe must be reduced by around 70% compared to the figures for 1990. This is a strong incentive for introducing waterborne coatings.Note de contenu : - Background
