Résumé : |
The required screw diameter can be ascertained on the basis of the shot volume. The formula for the average residence time can be used to estimate the degree of utilization and the thermal load on the material. Last but not least, the maximum injection pressure and the available screw torque are key variables for successful injection molding production – basic principles for the selection of a barrel-and-screw combination, and the starting point for further optimization. |
Note de contenu : |
- Basic design of the plasticizing unit : shot volume
- Residence time as indicator of thermal damage to the material
- Reference value for the length of the screw
- Maximum screw torque
- The required and the maximum injection pressure
- Four parameters for decision-making
- Figure : Various shapes of plasticizing screws. The correct design is approached in several steps
- Fig. 1 : From the material to the nozzle : schematic diagram of the plasticizing system
- Fig. 2: Schematic diagram of the recommended stroke utilization. The optimum operating range of a plasticizing unit is at a screw stroke of about 1 to 3D |
