Résumé : |
In my paper presented in Barcelona in 1975, various steps were discussed for processing pigskin to produce a quality leather. Stressed were the use of specialty, non-ionic degreasing surfactants at various steps in the processing sequence to control and remove grease, as well as the use of dimethyl amine and proper strength bating enzymes in the beamhouse to prepare the skins properly for subsequent tannage. Attention was given to the use of acrylics in both retanning and finishing. It is the aim of this paper to concentrate on the role of acrylics in processing pigskin, since these unique materials contribute properties to leather not easily obtained with others. |
