Résumé : |
Ford Motor Company, in collaboration with Gestamp, the National Composites Centre and The University of Nottingham, is developing composite suspension components for commercial vehicle application with Innovate UK. A combination of unique composite deployment and bespoke manufacturing processes is resulting in 40% weight reduction compared to current fabricated steel components. The manufacturing technology investigated as part of the project includes overmoulding, pultrusion and compression moulding, and will also include joining techniques for hybrid materials to meet high-volume production cycle times. The final part designs are nearing completion and manufacturing trials of the components are due to commence in the first quarter of 2020. |
