Résumé : |
In the midterm, a worldwide increase in PU consumption of 4 to 5 % per year is to be expected. Growth drivers are the sound economic performance in the major industrialized nations so far, and in particular the increasing prosperity in China and emerging markets. In future, the PU business will be strongly influenced by digitalization and the development of closed material life cycles. |
Note de contenu : |
- Global capacity expansion
- TPU with good growth in Asia
- Sustainable raw materials and stricter emission specifications for soft polyurethane foams
- Efficient thermal insulation with rigid PU foam
- PU in the cold chain- Focus on higher productivity
- Better acoustics and lightweight construction
- TPU for the "shoe well"
- Recycling and shoe concept
- Fig. 1 : Covestro wants to double its MDI capacity at Brunsbüttel, germany, with the conversion of the former TDI plans on MDI. The picture shows the 26 m high and 80 t air scrubber before being installed in the new MDI plant
- Fig. 2: Reserachers of the Catalytic Center of the RWTH Aachen University, Germany. As part of the Carbon4PUR consortium, they want to develop a process that can convert waste gases from steel mills into polyols
- Fig. 3 : Facade systems can be insulated very economically, efficiently and thinly with PU thermal insulation systems. The facades can even equal the insulation performance of a passive house facade
- Fig. 4 : Examination of the dimensional stability of a metal composite element at the end of the production line in the Covestro PU pilot plant in Leverkusen, Germany |
