Résumé : |
The company Leonhard Kurz is a specialist in the development and production of decorative and functional coatings for plastics applications, which are applied by means of carrier foils during injection molding. Essential objectives of the company are technology and process development as well as the optimization of the 3D foil forming around corners and the contours of the plastic parts. For this purpose, Kurz operates an extensive injection molding technology center. New in the machinery: two production cells based on servo-hydraulic injection molding machines from Wittmann Battenfeld. |
Note de contenu : |
- More than just high gloss, decoration and scratch-protection
- Varioform IMD pushes application limits andunit costs
- Optimal production maturity
- Reaching for higher three-dimensionality
- Figure : Decorative and fucntional coatings, such as those developed and produced at Leonhard Kurz in Nuremberg/Fürth, Germany, enable efficient implementation of new design concepts, shown here, for example on a car door panel with variable and dimmable backlighting
- Fig. 1 : PMD insert combined with a printed capacitive PolyIC sensor on the inside of the molded part
- Fig. 2 : Both injection molded machines are equipped with roll-to-roll foil feeding units. The robots carry a foil heating panel and on the opposite side a suction gripper for finished parts removal
- Fig. 4 : Examples from the current testing program at Leonhard Kurz to extend the thermoforming dimensions and potentials for forming corners and radii with various foils
- Fig. 5 The back of the car door panel - the visible side is decorated using the IMD process - contains a prefabricated foil component from the Kurz group-compani PolyIC with a printed-on sensor structure that integrates the interactive light switch and dimming function |
