Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) and its main derivative, cardanol offers a number of polymerization reaction due to the inherent chemical structure containing a reactive phenolic group and an unsaturated aliphatic chain in the meta position of the aromatic ring. Also, as a natural product, CNSL is an alternative resource to synthesize various resins and coatings contributing to green and sustainable technology. The present review focuses the work done with CNSL and its derivatives to develop coatings namely, polyurethane, polyester and polyurea coating along studies done with respect to the functional properties of the with coatings developed. |
