After weathering a period of recession between 2006 and 2009 it has since grown at over 3% per annum and is currently valued at £814 million. This growth shows no signs of decreasing and the market is expected to be worth close to £1 bn by the end of the decade.
The UK hair care market is dominated by Procter and Gamble, Unilever and l'Oreal with a combined market share of over 70% in 2012.11n 2013 just 5% of shampoos and conditioners launched globally were specifically targeted at men, despite this demographic having high usage. Botanical and herbal ingredients are extremely popular, appearing in 58% of ail shampoos and conditioners launched in the year prior to March 2014. The origin of botanical ingredients varies significantly by region and domestic companies prominently incorporate locally sourced ingredients to give them an edge over multinationals.Note de contenu : - Naturally back to basics
