Acrylic polymer latex has been widely used in many fields, such as coatings, adhesives, textile, papermaking and leather industries because of its particular properties and environmental friendliness. Nonyphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) are widely used as surfactants for emulsion polymerisation to stabilise the latex. However, NPEOs are bioaccumulative and persistant in the environment, while nonylphenol, the breakdown product of NPEs, is an endocrine disruptor. Therefore, the EU Commission has recommended implementing risk reduction strategy, which foresees the ban of all applications leading to direct emissions to waste water and strict emission controls for all other technical processes using NPEOs as surfactants. In one of the major fields of application, alkyl phenol-free surfactants, with a more favourable ecological profile, are becoming key ingredients for eco-friendly emulsion polymers and polymer dispersions. In this paper, different kinds of green surfactants in acrylic polymer latex were reviewed.Note de contenu : - Alkyl glycosides

Polymérisation en émulsionIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : At present, polymer materials have been widely used in the chemical industry, architecture, medicine, food, agriculture and other industries. The synthesis of new macromolecule material and its theoretical research has been an important topic in polymer science'. Radical polymerisation is an effective method for mass production of a variety of vinyl polymers. About 70% or more of these polymers is produced by the radical polymerisation. Chain initiation is one of the important factors in the radical polymerisation, which will directly affect the quality of the product, the rate of polymerisation etc. The radical polymerisation initiation system can be summarised as peroxide initiator, azo initiator and redox initiator, difunctional and multifunctional initiators and macromolecular initiator. This paper focuses on the research progress of the radical initiators in recent years including several common water-soluble initiators, such as inorganic peroxide initiators, watersoluble azo initiators, redox initiators and composite initiators. The advancement of waterborne coatings in plastics is reviewed.
Plastic products have been more and more widely used and has become one of the indispensable important materials in many fields with the rapid development of the plastics industry. However, some properties of the plastics, such as wear resistance and ageing resistance are weak. Thus, coatings are used to improve the applicability of the plastics in all aspects, which are coated on the surface. At present, coatings, such as single-component thermoplastic acrylic coatings, two-component solvent polyvinyl chloride acrylate coatings, chlorinated polyolefin coatings and nitrocellulose coatings have been used to modify the plastic products.
However, some above used coatings belong to the solvant plastic coatings, which contain some organic solvents, such as benzene, alcohols and hydrocarbon or oxygen solvent in the process of production. The organic solvants are harmful to the environment and human body due to their initial formaldehyde, aromatic and all kinds of harmful volatile substances. Furthermore, some plastic products cannot resist the organic solvents". Thus, more and more attention has been paid to the waterborne plastic coatings, which are friendly to the environment. Waterborne coatings are based on water soluble resins or different types of dispersion resins. Usually, they are composed of different kinds of waterbased resins, pigments, extenders and additives. In this paper, the advancement of waterborne coatings in plastics is reviewed.Note de contenu : - Waterborne acrylate coatings

Le second groupe en importance de matériaux en silicone est celui des résines de silicone, formées par des oligosiloxanes ramifiés ou en forme de cage (wiki).Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The fluorine-silicone modified acrylate-dibutyl fumarate emulsions were successfully prepared via semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerisation technology when MMA, DBF, VTES and HFMA were used to be the co-polymerised monomers and the mixture of SDBS and APG and KPS were used as the emulsifier and the initiator, respectively. The optimum recipe of preparing the emulsion is as follows : the amount of emulsifiers is 5% and the mass ratio of SDBS and APG is 1:4 ; the amount of initiator is 0.6% and the content of the fluorine monomer and silicon monomer is 6% and 8%, respectively. In comparison with the acrylate-dibutyl fumarate emulsion without fluorine monomer and silicon monomer, the thermal stability and the water resistance of the modified emulsion film are clearly improved.
