Résumé : |
We examined in detail how different colour nuances come about and where the coloristic potentials and limits are for iron oxide red pigments. First, the complex electronic structure of α-Fe2O3 was derived as an illustrative model and visuallised by the absorption spectrum of a hematite single crystal. In the case of the almost isometric hematite red pigments, the specific variation in particle size was used to explain the reasons for the changes in hue by means of the absorption spectra, with their characteristic values. |
