Résumé : |
Even though economical use of material is a perennial theme, the needs of plastics processors change with the requirements of the times. Recycling of post-consumer packaging is a great challenge at present. An Italian manufacturer has developed a two-stage system that can produce films suitable for food contact without intermediate pelletizing. We took a look around the company headquarters. |
Note de contenu : |
- Viewing the innovative systems in operation
- From bottle flake to rigid food-grade film in one system
- Cost effective alternative: recyclate layer encapsulated in a sandwich
- View of the roots
- Figure : Changing requirements: besides the achiev-able bubble diameter, flexibility is increasing-ly playing a growing role, allowing different materials to be combined thanks to multilayer technology
- Fig. 1 : Material flow : Andrea Carraro explains the processing of bottle flake into food-compatible PET in the purification line
- Fig. 2 : Bottle flakes : depending on how high the requirements on the end product are, different grades of PET recyclate can be used separately or in combination
- Fig. 3 : Key components : the dies that are crucial for the extrusion process quality are produced by Bandera in-house |
