Résumé : |
Carbon-reinforced concrete reduces the amount of concrete , allows more slender and elegant structures and avoids limitations of steel reinforcements. Although not a onesize-fits-all solution for every problem, it provides ample opportunities for new architectures and new structural concepts. With a Singapore-based perspective, this addresses a number of challenges typical for tropical megacities: corrosion, import of building materials, weight (piling, transport, lifting) for prefab / PPVC and high-rise architectures.
This article, will highlight these benefits, but also indicate limitations. It will also showcase three examples of use cases to provide better idea about typical applications. |
