Collagène -- StabilitéIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Collagen is one of the widely studied biomaterial for various industrial applications. However, search of eco-friendly and biocompatible stabilizing agent is a thrust research domain. In this research work, application of dialdehyde cellulose (DAC) was studied to understand the effect on the enzymatic and conformational stability in collagen. The secondary structure of collagen is not significantly altered on interaction with DAC. But, it was found that DAC lead to changes in the amplitude of the circular dichroic (CD) spectrum but did not alter the triple helical conformation of collagen. DAC treated collagen exhibited 93% resistance to collagenolytic hydrolysis. Conversely, DAC treated collagenase exhibited 89% inhibition against collagen degradation and the inhibition was found to be concentration dependent. The kinetics of inhibition of collagenase by DAC was derived from the extent of hydrolysis of (2-furanacryloyl-L-leucyl-glycyl-L-prolyl-L-alanine), FALGPA. DAC exhibited non-competitive mode of inhibition against collagenase. CD data on DAC-modified collagenase substantiate the hypothesis that the inhibition of collagenase by DAC arises from secondary and quaternary structural changes in the enzyme. Gaining new insights in understanding the mechanism of stabilization of collagen by DAC through kinetics of inhibition of collagenase was presented. Titre : Knowledge management and leather technology : Quality assurance in research and technical activities Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : G. Grasso, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 81-90 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : "Knowledge management" is a systematic practice which is quickly expanding in such application fields as production engineering and the planning business, thait aims to define methods and procedures for giving a concrete direction to the organization of the competences, the multidisciplinary nature of information and lifelong learning. This manuscript purposes to give technicians and researchers in "tanning technologies" an organizational instrument to structure their own heterogeneous knowledge by means of a "common thread conductor". This classifies the technical information and conforms their "shape", presentation and manipulation through the elementary, basic elements of system theory. So, a best technological practice managing system (BTPMS) can be suggested, following the familiar form of the usual quality management sytems for process improvements and quality assurance in specific areas of technical services. The study is mainly focussed on aspects such as identify, classify, represent, codify, create, capture, organise/structure data, distribute and finally enable adoption of the technical knowledge of tanning-processes. Note de contenu : - Shibori de cuir

Titre : Laboratory evaluation of the biological degradation of para-nitrophenol Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Daniel L. Perrin, Auteur ; J. David Eye, Auteur Année de publication : 1985 Article en page(s) : p. 81-93 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The purposes of this study were to determine the ability of an activated sludge system to treat wastewater containing Para-Nitrophenol, (PNP), and to evaluate the effect of a commercially available “bioaugmentation product” on the performance of an activated sludge unit treating wastewater containing PNP.
The activated sludge system was simulated using two-liter operated reactors seeded from a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Various experimental comparisons were made on units exposed to PNP, not exposed to PNP, and units exposed to PNP while undergoing bioaugmentation.
Results show that the batch activated sludge units were able to adapt to and degrade PNP up to concentrations of 113 mg/l in the mixed liquor. The presence of PNP interfered slightly with the performance of the batch units in terms of solids production, effluent suspended solids, and sludge volume index.
The results of this study also indicate that the addition of the bioaugmentation product improved batch activated sludge operation in terms of PNP degradation, COD reduction, effluent suspended solids, and solids production. A similar improvement in PNP degradation was obtained by the addition of small amounts of fresh activated sludge microorganisms from a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
