RetannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Formaldehyde is widely used in the synthesis of various leather chemicals due to its high reactivity and low cost. It is probably introduced into leather when applying the chemicals to processing, and then released during storage and use of leather, which may pose a potential risk to human health. Existing method for determining formaldehyde in leather is helpless to deal with the complicated chemicals. In this study, a method was optimized for determination of free formaldehyde in leather chemicals based on ISO 27587. A 0.5-2.0 g sample of leather chemical (formaldehyde could range from 1.25 to 1250 mg/kg) was heated at 90°C in nitrogen atmosphere. The released formaldehyde was purged at a flow rate of 300 mL/min for 30 min, captured and derivatized using a bubble absorption tube containing 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine absorption solution, and then detected by HPLC-diode array detector. The recovery rate of formaldehyde standard solution was 91.0% with relative standard deviation (RSD) of 4.87% in seven times repeated trials. The repeated determinations of aldehyde tanning agents showed the formaldehyde recoveries higher than 90% and RSD lower than 7%, indicating the accuracy and precision of the method. Powdery amino resins were determined to contain a tiny amount of free formaldehyde using this method. However, it should be noted that hydrolyzed formaldehyde will be formed when the amino resins were dissolved in water and used in retanning, leading to the potential for bringing leather with high content of formaldehyde.
Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was optimized for extraction of the leather preservative agents 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)-benzothiazole (TCMTB), 4-chloro-3-methylphenol (PCMC), 2-phenylphenol (OPP), 2-Octyl-3(2H)-isothiazolone (OIT), 2-mercaptobenzothiazol (MBT) and 3-iodo-2-propynyl-butylcarbamate (IPBC) in spent tanning floats. Determination was carried out by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with photo diode array detection (PDA). The following parameters were studied to achieve the maximum efficiency in extraction: fiber type, adsorption conditions (extraction time, ionic strength, temperature) and desorption parameters (time, temperature and composition of the desorption solvent). Results indicate that SPME using a 60µm polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB) fiber is appropriate for the extraction of these types of compounds. Recoveries ranged from 82% to 116% with RSDs between ±8% and ±12% and limits of detection below 1 mg/L except for IPBC. The optimized procedure was successfully applied for the determination of leather preservatives in eleven residual tanning floats taken from different companies. This method enables us to determine quantitatively the fungicides contained in the residual floats. Consequently, it will constitute a very useful tool to improve the preservative uptake in leather manufacturing processes.
Peaux brutes -- SalageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This research aims to isolate extremely halophilic archaea from salted hides, to determine the capacities of their hydrolytic enzymes, and to identify them by using phenotypic and molecular methods. Domestic and imported salted hide and skin samples obtained from eight different sources were used as the research material. 186 extremely halophilic microorganisms were isolated from salted raw hides and skins. Some biochemical, antibiotic sensitivity, pH, NaCl, temperature tolerance and quantitative and qualitative hydrolytic enzyme tests were performed on these isolates. In our study, taking into account the phenotypic findings of the research, 34 of 186 isolates were selected. These isolates were identified by 16S rRNA sequence analysis and 15 different strains of extreme halophilic archaea were identified. 13 strains of these were identified for first time from salted raw hide and skin in our study including Natrialba aegyptia, Halococcus thailandensis, Halococcus dombrowskii, Halovivax asiaticus, Halovivax sp. E107, Haloarchaeon, Natronococcus sp., Halorubrum sp., Halomicrobium zhouii, Natronococcus jeotgali, Haloterrigena thermotolerans, Natrinema versiforme, Halobacterium noricense. At the same time detecting Natrialba aegyptia in 6 of 8 hide samples showed that this strain is widely found in hide and skin samples. Research results are expected to contribute to other studies and solving microbial problems in leather industry. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The shrinkage temperature of skin and leather is a valuable indicator of the hydrothermal stability of collagen. Visual determination of the shrinkage temperature by the hot table method has several advantages when applied to historical leather. The equipment is rather on samples consisting of a new fibres or even a single fibre. Furthermore, the hot table method provides the opportunity to obtain very detailed information on the stability, and thereby the state of deterioration of individual fibres. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Heavy metals represent a major environmental problem in many industries and they may cause potential danger to human health when they are present in/on leather and textile and exposed long term contact with them in sweaty condition. The aim of this work was to determine the amount of metal ions in leathers dyed with 1:1 metal complex dyes and their extractable amounts by artificial sweat solution. Measurements were done by using inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Total metal loads in leather samples were found between 115 and 1860 (min.-max. in mg/kg). Results in extraction solutions samples were found to be 0 to 6.55 (min.-max. in mg/L). The results obtained from the study were compared with the Oeko-Tex Standard limits and discussed.
