Revêtements décoratifs:Peinture décorativeIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Interior architectural coatings today do much more than hide blemishes in walls and ceilings. They often play a key role in the overall decorating scheme and are chosen in concert with furnishings and room accessories. In addition, consumers today expect these coatings to have minimal impact on the environment and have low odour while also offering a multitude of performance properties, from high hiding power to stain resistance. Increasingly, consumers also want interior architectural coatings to have advanced functional ity, from biocidal properties to the abiIity to degrade harmful chemicals in the air. The growing demand for higher and more varied performance is occurring at a time when the market for these coatings is expanding. Driven by healthy construction sectors in mature economies and rising incomes in emerging markets, the value of the global interior architectural coatings segment is growing extremely well. Titre : Main reasons why the paints go bad Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : M. Veeramani, Auteur Année de publication : 2021 Article en page(s) : p. 129-130 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Revêtements -- Détérioration:Peinture -- Détérioration
Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : Now let us go in detail the various reasons why Paints go bad in stored conditions or in-can. The main reason that is attributed is due to the contamination of paint with micro organisms. This can also be called as Bio-degradation of paints. Herein we wiII examine this aspect and then suggest methods to avoid paint going bad.
The protection of paint from attack by microorganisms is an area of the coatings formulation that is often misunderstood. This chapter provides an understanding of microbial contamination and can assist coatings manufacturers in preparing to do battle with the problems created by microbiological organisms. The types of microbial attack that are of concern to the paint industry are bacterial, fungal and algal. Bacteria, small, single-celled organisms, grow readily in unpreserved water-based systems. Fungi are unicellular or filamentous organisms that are devoid of chlorophyll and attack the dry paint film, as do algae, which are unicellular or filamentous organisms that require light. While only waterborne coatings are susceptible to bacterial contamination in the can, both water- and solvent borne coatings are prone to attack on the dry film by fungi and algae after the paint is applied.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ttaNtX_MGlJIrW1znZWBdbLvFjoHkue6/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35243

Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : With the background information about how a can of paint goes bad, let us proceed further in this regard. Interior coatings used especially in kitchen and bathroonns are more vulnerable to microbial degradation due to damp conditions. And for exterior paints, environmental conditions like humidity can lead to fungal/algal growth and negatively affect the aesthetics of the coating. Apart from architectural segment, microbial issues are also predominant in the marine industry leading to problems such as high maintenance costs, increased corrosion etc. Also, not only limited to after use spoilage, microorganisms can contaminate the paint in different ways during the manufacturing process too. Are you h unti ng for the right biocide for your coating formulation ? Does the everchanging global regulatory landscape for anti-microbial additives make the selection process daunting for you ? Understand, in detail, what to consider while selecting the right biocide or anti-foulant for your paints and coatings. Check out :
