Tannage Résumé : The effect of chrome content in chrome tanning liquid on the physical and mechanical properties of leather when using the specially designed leather tanning machine were studied and the leather was characterized by EDS and SEM. The results showed that, considering the chrome content in leather and the physical and mechanical properties of leather, the best chrome content in the chrome tanning liquid was 16g/L. The EDS results showed that the distribution of chrome in leather was relatively uniform. The SEM results showed that the collagen fibre dispersion of leather tanned with the leather tanning machine was better than the leather tanned by drum. Tannage Résumé : In recent years, there has been a growing focus on amphoteric retanning materials due to their crucial role in enhancing the electropositivity of retanned leather and improving the absorption of anionic dyes and fatliquors. This paper introduces a novel design and successful preparation of amphoteric retanning agents. Initially, a series of poly(N-vinylformamide-co-acrylic acid) copolymers were synthesized through a free radical copolymerization reaction initiated by azodiisobutyamidine hydrochloride. Subsequently, these polymers were hydrolyzed to produce an amphoteric retanning agent (A-PVAm) with a solid content of 15 %(Wt). Their structures were characterized using FT-IR, and their isoelectric points were determined through a zeta potential analyzer. Following this, a fluorescent tracer (FA-PVAm) was synthesized by reacting fluorescein 5-isothiocyanate with A-PVAm. This tracer was utilized to monitor the real-time penetration and mass transfer of A-PVAm during the retanning process as a signaling agent. The mass transfer of A-PVAm was observed concerning dosage and running time. It was observed that within 60 minutes, A-PVAm could evenly distribute throughout the leather. In instances where the retanning agent dosage was inadequate, the inner part of the crust showed minimal presence of the retanning agent. However, at dosages exceeding 20 %, the retanning agent exhibited uniform distribution within the leather. The utilization of the fluorescent tracing technique proved effective in creating a tracer to monitor the penetration of the amphoteric acrylic resin retanning agent in leather. This approach can assist in optimizing the molecule structure of the polyacrylate retanning agent and analyzing its mechanism of action. Tannage au chromeIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The recycling of leather solid waste has become a key issue aimed at realising the sustainable development of the leather industry. Recently, more and more attention has been paid on the recycling of limed fleshings. In this paper, a new recycling method for limed fleshings is reported. First, collagen protein hydrolysate (CH) was obtained by hydrolysing limed fleshings under alkaline conditions, and then the CHwas modified with cyanuric chloride (TCT) to obtain a high exhaustion chrome auxiliary (HECA). The coordination of HECA with chromium salts was investigated by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrum. HECA was applied in the chrome tanning process as an additive. The chrome concentration in effluent, the shrinkage temperature and mechanical properties of the resultant wet-blue were determined. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyse the properties of the obtained leather. The results show that HECA could coordinate with chromium salts and significantly improved the absorption and fixation of chrome salt into leather. When the amount of chrome tanning agent was 5% and the amount of HECA was 3%, the uptake of chrome tanning agent could be increased to 92.42%, the shrinkage temperature (Ts) of wet-blue leather could reach 102.8°C, the relative increases being 27.26% and 7.3°C, respectively, compared with the conventional tanning process. The obtained wet-blue leather demonstrated uniform grain, good fullness and improved mechanical properties. This recycling method provides a valuable insight of developing high exhaustion chrome tanning aid from limed fleshings, and consequently increases the economic and environmental benefits in leather production. Poussière de cuirIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Buffing dust (BD) is generated in the buffing process of leather making. Amino-terminated hyperbranched polymer (HBPN) was used to modify the BD to prepare hyperbranched polymer modified BD (HBPN-B). The molecular weight of HBPN was analysed by GPC and FTIR, SEM-EDS and BET analysis were employed to characterise the structure of the HBPN-B. The BET specific surface area of HBPN-B was 7.128m2.g-1. The EDS analysis results show that after modification, the N content of BD increased from 21.23% to 24.47%. HBPN-B was then used in the adsorption of dye from wastewater. The influences of reaction conditions on the adsorption properties of HBPN-B towards acid fuchsin were studied and the adsorption kinetic and isotherm were researched. The removal rate of acid fuchsin by HBPN-B increased with the increase of pH, the removal rate reached the maximum at pH2.5. Electrostatic attraction was the chief adsorption mechanism. The removal rate increased with the increase of HBPN-B dosage and temperature. The adsorption process was in conformity with pseudo-second order kinetic and Langmuir adsorption isotherm model adsorption.
